1. DeLTA Network
The Depolarization Labs & Trainers Alliance (DeLTA) is an academic-practitioner network focused on political polarization. It features programs to foster inter-institutional communication and collaboration, including events connecting DC-area faculty and students. DeLTA has hosted:
- 2 Fall conferences featuring professors, lab leaders and nonprofit leaders
- 2 Spring summits featuring student research presented to faculty panels
2. Young Men & the Manosphere
We examine the potential for genuine transformation that replaces the male supremacist ideology with gender-equality, bigotry with a sense of caring for all, and hate-filled rhetoric with an openness to all lifestyles.
3. Polarization in America: Depolarization for America
We examine the causes and consequences of extremism in America (U.S.) towards the goal of reducing extremist-oriented violence and promoting respectful interaction with their political adversaries.
4. Secondary Education Project
Students in grade schools are an important target population for depolarization interventions. We offer high school workshops that examine why polarization has intensified recently and how best to promote productive, depolarizing exchanges. These sessions will combine tools for effective pedagogy from the College of Education and an established communication framework from nonprofit partner Braver Angels.
5. Polarization and Mass Atrocity
Beneath the carnage of most cases of mass atrocity are long-standing hatreds, dehumanization of others and a fabricated sense of existential threats. We reveal these underlying forces towards the goal of creating atrocity-prevention practices.
